Rutland’s Permanent Memorial to Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
A recent launch event at Oakham Castle, hosted by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Rutland, Dr Sarah Furness, showed plans to erect a bronze statue of the late Queen, to be situated outside Oakham library. Director, Andrew Bussey, and Carolyn Affleck of Gateley Smithers Purslow (GSP), attended the event and offered GSP’s multi-disciplinary services to assist Dr Sarah Furness with the project.
GSP will help with planning permission approval and engineering design services as well as surveying services, to enable the assembly of the base, ready for the completed bronze statue to sit on. Local sculptor, Hywel Pratley, is creating the 7-foot bronze statue, which will be a youthful Elizabeth attired in state robes, accompanied by two of her beloved corgis.
There are only eight statues of the Queen around the whole of the UK, and this would be the first to be erected after Her Late Majesty’s passing and the only statue of any type in the whole of Rutland. GSP is honoured to be able to offer its complimentary services for this local project.
