Smithers Purslow Charity Golf Day
(part of the ruby year ‘£40K for charity’ challenge)
– In aid of the Matt Hampson Foundation –
Smithers Purslow hosted its second ‘Charity Golf Day’ at the Leicestershire Golf Club, Evington on Wednesday 13 June 2018.
After last year’s success, the day soon turned into another brilliant opportunity to network, catch-up with colleagues and the chance to test stamina, skill & tactics, whilst also giving a wonderful opportunity of helping to raise even more than last year for the ‘The Matt Hampson Foundation’.
Plenty of sunshine for the Charity Golf Day
2018 has seen an absolutely incredible Mediterranean summer with high temperatures breaking records and June 13 was no exception! After the warm welcome of bacon butties on arrival, snacks & refreshments were flowing all day to keep the golfers hydrated. The day was finished off with an exquisite, mouth-watering 3-course meal that exceeded all expectations.
Another star attraction
Last year we were fortunate enough to have the company of sporting legend, Matthew Hoggard, who made a huge contribution to the success of the day. This year our good fortune continued as we were delighted to welcome another sporting legend; none other than another ex-England cricketer, Dean Headley. Dean is currently a physical education teacher at Stamford School and once again he made the day a huge success, keeping everyone entertained with his lively personality and wit.
Golf Day Prizes
Once again we were able to offer some superb golfing prizes and thanks to other very generous donations other prizes on offer included a fabulous leather weekend bag and massive booze bucket. Prizes went to the top 3 winning teams, top 3 individual places, 2 x nearest the pins and the winner of the ever-popular putting competition.
Our sincere thanks goes to professional photographer, Nico Morgan, who most kindly gave his services for the charity golf day enabling us to capture some unforgettable moments and amazing memories for all those involved.
